Samsung skipped optical image stabilization (OIS) on both its high-profile phones this year (Galaxy S4 and Note 3), while competitors HTC and LG both count on that to gain an edge. Samsung is working on an OIS-enabled camera though, the company demonstrated a 13MP camera module with OIS and improved low-light performance compared to current models.

Announced at the beginning of the month – alongside the Note 3 – the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition will be released in the US on October 10. Customers will be able to find it at Samsung Experience Shops, Samsung.com, Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, PC Richard & Son, Tiger Direct, Fry’s, and other retailers. Samsung exec: Galaxy Gear support coming to Galaxy S4 next month

Right now if you want to use Samsung's new smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, you'll need a Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy Tab 10.1 2014 Edition to go with it. That's because only those devices feature the built-in "Gear Manager" app that links with the watch. However, at the announcement event in Berlin earlier this month Samsung mentioned that other devices would be updated with Gear support in the future, and it seems we now have a rough timetable for that process.

Samsung has finally announced the long-rumored Galaxy Note III – but it’s calling it Note 3 (not a big difference anyway). Alongside the Note 3, the South Korean company has also unveiled a new Note 10.1 tablet. Those who’ve been expecting the larger Note 12.2 will have to wait a bit longer.
